HAUNTED HILL | HALLOWEEN STYLING TIPS
TIPS AND TRICKS FOR CREATING YOUR OWN HAUNTED HILL DISPLAY
Start with a Theme for Cohesion | Establishing a clear concept helps tie your entire display together. For our Haunted Hill setup, we chose a spooky village, which guided the color palette, textures, and details to create a seamless look.
Build your Base | Start by laying a solid foundation for your display. Whether it’s fabric, a table runner, or textured material, your base sets the tone. In our Haunted Hill scene, we used black netted fabric to create a dark, moody landscape for the village and candles.
Set the Scene | Covering a large painting with a mysterious tapestry instantly transforms the space and ties the color palette together. In our case, the midnight blues of the tapestry perfectly match the color of the credenza completing the story.
Develop Composition | Now that the base and backdrop are in place, it's time to start arranging your composition. Play with different heights to draw the eye across and give depth. Using platforms to elevate certain houses adds variety, while a crow perched on a house and another hanging from the ceiling enhance verticality and movement.
Mix Textures | Incorporate a mix of textures to for dimension and visual interest. The combination of metal houses, netted fabric, spiky garlands, soft moss, and the crow's delicate feathers creates a tactile contrast.
Bring it to Life | Adding plants or natural elements, like bright green moss or garlands, infuses your display with energy. Foraging is a low-cost, organic way to incorporate texture and greenery, as seen in our Haunted Hill setup where we used a branch to anchor the scene.
Layer Lighting | Utilizing multiple levels of light evokes a dynamic atmosphere casting intriguing shadows.
